Our body weight depends on both diet and physical activity. Good health and a body weight maintained within a reasonable range can be achieved by adopting a well-balanced diet and an active lifestyle. Weight gain usually occurs when our energy intake exceeds our energy expended. Year after year, new radical fad diets appear making unsubstantiated claims about their health and/or weight loss benefits. Lacking sound research, these diets may provide some short-term weight loss success but they often fail to support long-term lifestyle changes that ultimately support weight maintenance or health goals. This misinformation is hard to navigate especially when sophisticated terms are used in their explanation. This service provides clients with the opportunity to complete a detailed diet and physical activity assessment to assist in the establishment of a diet that is realistic in achieving health improvements through weight-loss. Long-term success can be achieved by establishing reasonable goals and making small but significant changes to one's diet to achieve moderate losses as opposed to setting unreachable goals that lead to failure.
